How to install an SSL certificate in Plesk.
This tutorial assumes that you have already logged in to Plesk.
Now let’s learn how to install an SSL certificate in Plesk.
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol is necessary when you want to collect data from your visitors securely, i.e. credit card numbers and other personal information.
To install an SSL certificate on your site, you should at first purchase it from a trusted Certificate Authority (vendor) and then install it through Plesk control panel. Remember that your site must have a dedicated IP to enable SSL protection.
1) Scroll down to Additional Tools group.
2) Click SSL Certificates icon.
Currently there are no SSL certificates install, as you may see from the displayed words “No SSL certificates.” Let’s generate a Certificate Sign Request (CSR) file at first.
3) Click Add SSL Certificate icon.
4) Enter a name for the new certificate.
5) Then complete the preferences fields with your personal data.
6) Scroll down.
7) Click the Request option when finished.
8) Now let’s go have a look at the certificate request that we just created. Scroll down.
9) Click on the certificate name we just created.
10) Scroll down.
Here is where the certificate request and private key are located. You must copy and save this data in a secure place. You would need to provide a CSR file to an SSL vendor when purchasing a valid certificate.
11) Scroll back up a little.
Once you purchase your SSL certificate, you would paste it in the box.
12) Then you would click the Send Text button to install the certificate on your server.
